8 String pickup for Deftones, Korn, Limp Bzkit
« on: August 12, 2016, 02:47:26 PM »
I actually had an 8 string Jugg before and loved it, but sold the guitar as I wasn't getting on playing with an 8, however having borrowed my friend's 8 I am back on the market for one.

I was thinking play it safe with the Juggs but are any of the newer pickups like Impulse more suited to this kind of thing or is it Miracle Man / Juggs again.

Cheers !

The bladed pickups - Black Hawk, Impulse, and Cobra - are not available in 8 string format due to tooling costs

You could consider the Painkiller, Aftermath, or Rebel Yell here I guess, depending on your guitar's construction

I don't think you need tight and sharp sounding pickups
I'd pick a nailbomb over the more modern voiced models for those bands tones
Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

Impulse would have been perfect if it was available in 8!
I would go for a nailbomb or rebel yell

Cheers all - as an experiment I downtuned my RG 7 to Korn's tuning (Holy Diver set) and it sounded sick! Actually sounded like The Deftones....

Might actually consider a Holy Diver 8
