Help me choose a pick up cover

I have a PRS McCarty and I'm thinking about throwing in a calibrated set of Abraxas into it.

The guitar current has the vintage voiced 58/15 pick ups that sound really good, but I'm looking for a little more output and I'm hooked on BKP.

I can keep the same layout with chrome, but the burnt chrome could look kinda nice too. Also brushed nickel would give the guitar a nice vintage-ish vibe I think. So torn on which to pick.

I would avoud the burnt chrome. It is too blueish and will clash with the colour of your guitar.

Brushed nickel could look good, expecially if it was the Rebel Yell set with the ray gun etch

This guitar has such an opulent top. Together with the birds is has a rich baroque appearence. You don't want to draw the eye to extravagant pickupcovers. That would be too much. Since the guitar is quite glossy, I would stay with chrome. Brushed nickel would be a better match with an old or a reliced guitar guitar.

I just love brushed nickel as it starts of in a classy matte look. With a bit of care it keeps like that well, but let it go and it ages beautifully too. To an extend you can control the aging of it through care.
Here, starting out, it could give you a classy fit in and draw attention to the top. From there, depending on abuse, it could grow with the guitar or naturally age a bit and give an organic contrast to it.

That is what I would be tempted to do, but the save choice of course it chrome, especially if you want to keep it looking this fresh.

Thank you guys! All have given me some very sound advice. 

I think you guys are right. I don't think the burnt chrome would really fit my guitar. I saw a PRS with burnt chrome on ebay, and I thought it looked really cool. Maybe I was trying to mimic that look but it had a satin finish (which makes all the difference).



I do intend on upgrading the bridge to a polished aluminum adjustable bridge as pictured below:



Thinking the brushed nickel pick ups would go better with that satin bridge or shiny chrome?

bear in mind that the brushed nickel will age. That can give a cool looking patina, if thats what your after.

personally I would go from chrome covers, or black covers.

I voted brushed nickel, think it would look really cool on that guitar! Started to consider it for my own SG, but it would look a bit too slick and "new" for a 20 years old guitar. For the PRS however, it would look very nice! For some reason I am not a big fan of chrome, that's what they use for bathroom metal things to make them look shiny forever. Guitar pickups should age in my opinion, together with the guitar

Yep, Brushed Nickel for me too.

It was nearly Chrome - it would actually depend for me on how that new bridge will "age".

Burnt Chrome - meh! (for me, that is , I can see how it grabs other folks... but I don't think it would work at all on this one)

If you get brushed nickel, get it with black screws and the BKP etch.  It's really classy looking.  That's what I have in my Gibson Les Paul.

I'd go with the similar colour chromed cover of sorts on a guitar that shiny and flamed. Keep it looking similar without too much change. I've done that for most of mine to keep it classy.

I do love the other finishes though so I have a guitar here I've aged somewhere between post-apocalyptic and vintage so I can get aged looking bare knuckles and it'll look sweet. Unless you wanna knock the shite out of the finish of that and beat it up, which I'm guessing you don't, I'd go for the totally pristine un-aged look personally. It's too pretty and new to go too aged/battle-scarred/dull IMO.

Thanks guys! Really talked some sense into me. I don't think the burnt chrome would have worked as well as I would have liked.

95% sure I'm going with chrome to keep the shiny/glossy overall look.

Anyone have any pictures of chrome vs regular nickel? (not brushed nickel)

Regular nickel seems to be an option but I can't really tell the difference from the pics. I guess less shinier and more matte looking than chrome?
