Yngwie Sound out of a Tele Pup?
« on: April 11, 2006, 09:52:23 PM »
Ok so I'm building a custom Tele from Warmoth, bridge pup will be a DiMarzio Tone Zone T (I'd get a bareknuckle but they don't offer splittable stacked humbuckers yet, need the stacked HB because I'm going with a bigsby). For the neck pup I was looking for something with good cleans but enough oomph for live playing and distortion. I do have a lot of neo classical riffs ala Yngwie right now and I'm wondering what BK pup would get me closest to that sound, Piledriver or Boss?

I know most of your are thinking I'm crazy for trying to get a Yngwie sound out of a tele but I hate strats and I don't need to sound exactly like Yngwie just more in the ballpark. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have a Dimarzio noiseless single in the neck position of my Strat and it's out of phase with the BK Nailbomb in the bridge position. I haven't tried swapping the wires, though.

Out of curiosity, if it's a warmoth why are you going for a stacked humbucker? They could route it for a real one, couldn't they? Or do you actually prefer the sound of stacked ones?

Thanks Tim, I was thinking Piledriver too just wanted to check. I'm going with a stacked HB because I'm adding a Bigsby Vibrato to it. I don't think there are any Bigsby bridge's that will accomdate a full size humbucker or yes I would definitely but getting a splittable BK pup probably an Emerald.
