Need advices about Epiphone Les Paul Goldtop '56
« on: April 06, 2006, 10:53:39 PM »
hi all!
A friend of mine is about to buy a new Epiphone Les Paul Goldtop '56. But he doesn't have too much confidences in Epi pups. As he loves the BK' BrownSugar installed on my tele, he'd like to know if somebody here have already experimented this way:
buy a new Epiphone Les Paul Goldtop '56 and change pups for BK' P90 (or others BK's).
As Epiphone Les Paul Goldtop '56 is the most expansive Epi LP (550€), he's asking himself if there is a better (cheaper) way: buy the Epi LP standard (350€) and change pups for BK'P90.

We're playing together in a 60's covers band (beatles, stones, kings, who, ect...)

Thanks for your answers

PS: advices about the value of Epi LP GT 56 are welcome too

BKP do the BKP90s in a humbucker size! they're called Mississippi Queens. Congratulations - they rock trust me. real P90s in a humbucker cover.
Over here i think that '56 goldtop is cheaper than the standard....thats weird

Congratulations ! It's quite the sound Page got in "the song remains the same" I think

Obviously, it's not exactly this kind of sound my friend is looking for since we're playing early 60's r&roll

You wrote the finish of this Epi was not perfect but what do you mean exactly ?

What's the precise refecerence of this EP LP ?

I'm sure theses MissQueens are singing!
I dunno why 56goldtop is more expansive than some other ones. Some reviews say the quality of lutherie and finish are better with this '56 than LP STD...
But reviews are what they are...

Hey guys: Nobody's get an Epi LPGT'56 here ?

re finish on the LP Classic I have: Minor flaws, mainly the frets were not very nicely polished, which is more or less history now after 3 weeks of playing, they're fine now.

Action is the best I ever had on a guitar!

Actually I liked the rough frets as when vibrating it helped sustaining the tone even longer:)
