Recommend P90s for rockabilly and jazz?
« on: July 13, 2017, 07:25:25 PM »
I'm looking for a set of pickups for an HH Telecaster. I really like p90s. So I'm thinking some humbucker-sized p90s might be nice (I currently have a guitar with Seymour Duncan Phat Cats, which I like).

I play a mixture of jazz, rockabilly and rock n roll (along with a bit of funk). I never use more than a little overdrive. The most I use is similar to Keith Richards/Stones tone.

I'd like something jazzy for the neck. For the bridge, something that can handle a litttle overdrive (not much). Middle position (both pickups) is important - I generally use it for rockabilly (Scotty Moore and Brian Setzer type stuff).

So basically I'm looking for jazz in the neck, rock n roll in the bridge and rockabilly with both pickups. Any suggestions?

I would go Blue Notes here, unless your telecaster has a bright natural voice. Nantuckets will be too raw and barking for rockabilly.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.
