I'm heavily leaning towards getting painkillers for my RGA121 Prestige. Based on my research on these pickups, I think the sharper tone will compliment the basswood pretty good. I'm getting C-pigs for my new ash body prestige that is releasing in October, but in the mean time I wanted some new pickups for my current guitar.
My question was- what specs do I need to get? I would imagine open cover, but what about the other stuff? Also, would a painkiller in the neck be the best combo for my goals (death metal lead guitar) or are there other proven combos? I currently have the 'ol Michael Romeo setup in my ibanez (X2n bridge, tonezone neck) and I definitely like it, but I want to know what kind of benefit having another hot pickup in the neck would be.
