Picking the right BKPU's
« on: July 26, 2017, 02:15:46 AM »
I've gone through the whole BK line up a few times now, and I have no idea what a good setup for me would be. I recently bought a Gibson SG baritone. I bought it because I love sg's and I'm a tall guy so the baritone feels comfortable in my hands. Im looking to make it sound like a normal guitar or as close as possible really. I play a lot of metal/hard rock but also creamy blues type stuff as well. For the humbucker combo I was thinking a cold sweat neck and nail bomb bridge might be a good option but I'm not really sure.  Any suggestions? I've had the warpig before and that was pretty solid too

Wait, you want a baritone guitar to sound like a 24.75 or 25.5 scale length in E standard tuning?

What scale length is the SG?

Right now I've got 12-54s on for the strings and I'm using B E A D F♯ B tuning. Would like to bring it up if possible

With all that... I'm no expert on SG's, but I'm thinking Black Dog, unless that would be too middy, in which case maybe Cold Sweat.

The thing will be insanely bright... I don't think baritone was a good idea for standard. Get something really mellow.

I have a couple of 27's with ss frets (to add more trebble) and a walnut top, in such a bright guitar (the one in my avatar) not even the Warpig is dark at all, believe me, what you seek is not easy.
