BKP in an RR3 ?
« on: April 09, 2006, 09:43:13 PM »
Ok, my current axe is a Jackson RR3.
I swapped out the Bridge stock PU, and replaced it with a seymour duncan dimebucker, as the stock pickups were all muddy and i hated the low-end. I left the neck pup in, as i dont use it much. Prob is, the dimebucker's high's are really sharp and i have to use my two pups together to get a half respectable lead sound. Of course. my dodgy stock pup is still in, so this again makes my lows sound muddy.

I therefore decided it was time for a pup change! After hearing such good things about BKP , i was wondering, is it worth buying a calibrated set to stick in my jackson RR3 (as it isnt one of the best guitars in the world)? Would there still be a noticeable difference in quality? My amp isnt the best in the world either (15 watt marshall amp.. see my other dilemma in the equipment forum).

Which BKP's would you recommend? Im guessing im getting extra treble due to the lack of wood around my pups, so im not sure what the best would be to go for. Id like a nice low crunch, but with slightly smooth highs?

Thanks in advance

Since you have a RR, I'm assuming you play metal. In that case, go with a Miracle Man set. I think you will hear the improvement through your amp with no problem!

yea i solely play metal. I take it the miracle man has great clarity? So long as all my melodic lead parts and solos cut through im happy. Just i love my low end crunch that i get from my dimebucker too.

I have no experience of the Miracle Man but the Nailbomb in my ESP SV has very good clarity and punch. The mid range makes solos cut through very well.
slow music for slow people

Thats cool, i'll definately consider nailbombs! Only thing is, the SV actually has a larger body than the jackson RR's . Not sure if the larger body compensates. I just dont want the same thing to happen again. Dont want to go to all the trouble of selling my dimebucker only to get a tone that may be too shrill again  .

By the sounds of the versatility of BKP's i take it this wont really be a problem? Only really one way to find out i guess unless anybody here has had experience with BKP's in jackson RR models?  :(

I might just bite the bullet and go for it... soon as i get paid :P

Thanks
