ABM bridge + Standard spacing Warpigs
« on: June 04, 2018, 06:26:01 PM »
Hi,

Need some help here. Long story short I bought a couple of Mayones guitars with ABM bridges (54mm), but swapped the pickups out to put some BKP (Aftermath and Warpig sets). However, I ordered standard spacing and due to this the poles for high E and low E doesn’t allign well. Would this “misalignment” can translate in a non-proper functioning/sounding of the pickups ?, does anyone had the same sort of “problem” while ordering/putting your BKP and realized you needed a wide space pickup but kept it as it is ?

Best Regards

Yes I changed bridges from 50mm to 53mm when I went to a pre-notched TonePros on my guitar with 50mm Warpigs and the spacing hasn't caused an issue yet.  I guess where you might hear it is on the high E

The difference should be barely audible and certainly not hold you back in any way. If it helps, Eddie Van Halen's original guitar would have been the same way since he took a PAF from a Gibson and put it in his Frankenstrat.

I think the effect might be more noticeable on a lower output pickup. On the Warpig I haven't noticed it.  I have the same issue on an Explorer with a Nailbomb and haven't noticed problems there either

Thanks for the reply Dave, I'll keep using them as they are, think the sound is pretty much the same due to the high output (magnet) of the pickup, but my TOC is killing me, will try to live with it.

Thanks for the reply Nolly, I was a bit afraid it could cause an issue/malfunction (sonically speaking) as the misalignment is minimum yet noticeable, the E and E strings are floating right in the periphery (no pun intended) of the poles, so I guess the strength of the magnet helps compensate that.

Cheers fro Mexico.
