Mississippi Queen Set, with a single in the middle
« on: April 19, 2006, 01:55:02 AM »
Greetings,

OK,  now for something completely different...

I'm thinking of replacing the HSH pickups in my guitar with a set of the MQ P-90's and was looking for opinions about the middle single coil.

Any recommendations, and of course, why?

The Mother's Milk sounded good from the description.  Woody was the word that got me there.  Sort of a yummy gritty drive, but without pedals or screaming distortion.  (Which does have a definite place, but not with this guitar.)

I'm thinking beer, lazy dogs, and a tube amp with a few friends and no expectation of being famous.  Just enjoying my lack of talent to the fullest!

Thanks!  And please feel free to tell me if I have missed the boat here. :?

Milks would be a good foil to the Queens - the grunt the Queens can put out compared to the sweet woody sound of the Milks - cest magnifique!

I have a Slowhand in the middle with MQ and mini-mule.  It works really well with both of them, but gets some killer sounds with the MQ.
So many pickups, so little time
