Tighter low end than Stormy Neck Humbucker?
« on: October 11, 2018, 12:38:27 AM »
So now that I've actually gotten a chance to own and play a set of Bare Knuckles (in this case stormies), I wanted to know what people would recommend for a neck pickup that is similar to the stormy but with a tighter low end?

I think there is no equivalent in the range, except the Bare Knuckle Old Guard from the Bootcamp series. They also have an AII magnet. No experience with these though.
A Riff Raff neck will be a bit brighter, but tigther as well.

Yeah I wish they'd put eq charts for the neck pickups. Looking at those, it looks like most of the vintage and vintage hot range have less bass, at least on the bridge pickups. With the Emerald having the least.

I actually really like what I've heard from the clips of the Holy Diver neck, despite it being more "modern" voiced as opposed to the others.

The EQ-charts are for the bridgepickups. Not for the neckpickups.

As you can see from the bolded parts of my comment, I'm already aware of that fact. I do assume that the sets that have very "lean" bridge pickups would have at least moderately "lean" neck pickups, but I could be wrong. Like I said above, I wish they'd do EQ charts for the neck pickups.

Sorry mate, I missed that. An eq-chart for the neckpickups would be indeed an improvement on the website. I think you would like the BD-neck too. Different wire and tighter than a Mule by example.
