pickups for my schecter 006!
« on: April 27, 2006, 10:23:19 AM »
hey guys, just removed and sold off the stock JB/59 combo in my schecter and dropped a airnorton/DD. the airnorton is fine, but the duncan distortion is kinda too bright and thin, worst so when played clean.

any bareknuckle bridges to match the mahogony body, maple neck? i want something of a decently high output, yet versitile enough for cleans. something with a thick and tight bass response too. looking at the nailbomb as well as the miracle man. hows that?

thanks anyway!

I would recommend the nailbomb if you want versatility, though the Miracle Man is reputed to have excellent cleans in the neck position. The nailbomb is high output, but less so than the Miracle Man, which is ceramic, bassier, tighter and not as aggressive as the NB. It will of course depend on the kind of amp you have and what tones you like/aim for. Good luck, man!

well im playing stuff like bullet for my valentine, funeral for a friend, coheed and lots of generic post-hardcore to stuff like weezer and saves the day (oh love their tone!)

want some thing versitile, but i dont mind compromising abit here and there. afraid that the miracle man might be overly tight and bright..

bumpy. how do you guys think the miracle man would fare in a mahogony body, maple necked, set neck guitar? would it have enough bass as compared to the nailbomb?

Well, the Miracle Man has great, tight bass and low mids, so you shouldn't worry about it at all. I'm sure the Miracle Man would work very well in your guitar and I'm sure the rest of the guys on the forum will agree. The Miracle Man is reputed to actually be bassier than the Nailbomb. I guess it is really up to the individual's ears so I can't speak for you, but just trying to give you a decent idea.

hmm is the MM geared towards a crunchy aggressive sound or a smooth one?

Well the nailbomb would be more agresive with lots of mids...which would suit the nu metal type sounds like BFMV...Also, due to its durablility, it would be great for Weezer type stuff (which is a kind of punk rock i suppose)

From what i hear, the Miracle man is smoother, but more powerfull sounding. Its better for chucking out riffs...rather than singular note playin (which the ailbomb is better at)

Dont quote me on any of that tho!
