The Crawler in a strat short review.

I bought a custom Crawler (purple with gold bolts and a black radiator) for a tele deluxe build I’m planning but got bored and wanted to test it out so I put it in the bridge of my mostly Fender partscaster. It sounds awesome, very snappy and with a tight low end. Handles heavy overdrive just fine. You could do metal with the Crawler. I’ve been playing stuff like Accept, Motley Crue, and old Metallica and it works well. Next I’m going to wire it up so I can coil split.

Nice one. The Crawler performs really well in alder/ash bolt on guitars. I like the split, it's a kind of tele-esque tone, great for U2-stuff as well.

Interesting, I was considering the Crawler bridge for a 1-piece Mahogany Strat with Maple neck but I'm a bit scared that it is not snappy enough or lacks a bit of brightness.
Do you feel it's a touch too warm?

Well, mine is in a swampash/cocobolo top/maple neck with ebony fretboard strat. That guitar is quite percussive, so it benefits in the higher register from the Crawlers meat. For me there is topend enough, but the chain (guitar/board/amp) plays a role as well, I guess. In mahogany it's a bit of gamble, but bolt on with a maple neck might provide enough snap. Well there is for sure in single coil mode.
I've seen Crawlers in PRS's, so it comes down to the natural voice of the particular guitar. In case you're worried there is the Abraxas, as a good middle ground between Mule and Crawler. Something completely different that could work in your guitar is a Rebel Yell.
