Single Pickup for bc rich gunslinger
« on: December 04, 2021, 06:23:46 PM »
Got me a new bc rich outlaw pretty much an import gunslinger, need a perfect pickup for black/death metal would a warpig ceramic do it justice? I'm a big dimarzio x2n fan, wonder what the difference would be.

I would look for a pickup that is a great lead pickup, a good all-rounder, that way you won't miss the neck pickup as much

Miracle Man
alnico Black Hawk
Holy Diver

maybe a Rebel Yell

A brass tremolo block will help sweeten the tone a bit.
BLACK HAWKS
IMPULSES
COBRA-T
WAR PIGS
STOCKHOLM
COLD SWEATS
MIRACLE MAN
TRUE GRIT

The X2N is a distinctive sounding pickup. I’ve tried a few and always found them a bit gnarly and unpleasant to be honest with you. On the other hand, nothing else sounds like an X2N.

For a black/death metal tone which is over the top in a totally different (more pleasant) way the ceramic Warpig isn’t a bad shout.

Dave’s post above has some sensible options for adding versatility to your setup.

I'd say the painkiller can get in X2N ballpark, but I'd still favour the ceramic warpig
Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

I’d definitely echo the ceramic Warpig recommendations here
