Crawler vs rebel yell for e flat rock
« on: April 11, 2024, 07:38:22 PM »
Hi all,

I have a rebel yell set in my Les Paul Standard and the Crawler bridge in my PRS Custom 24. What would be best suited to E flat rock? I’m talking Coheed And Cambria, Weezer, Funeral For a Friend etc. the PRS has an Ebony board and the Les Paul has rosewood. I know Claudio Sanchez from Coheed plays with a nailbomb, and the rebel yell is similar I think?!

No one can answer this question better than you can - I'm not really sure why you're asking anyone else!

You have both guitars with both sets of pickups. Drop them both to Eb for an hour or so - assuming you're currently in E standard, no the setup won't be perfect but it also isn't a huge change - blast out some of the songs you want to play and see which you prefer. Both will do an excellent job so it's purely subjective.

I went with the PRS in the end, partly due to the longer scale length and also tuning stability, fair points, I’m just very indecisive!

Just a note to the OP that the Crawler bridge is actually closer in spec to the Alnico Nailbomb than the Rebel Yell is, so no surprise that it's working nicely for you for a Coheed kind of sound! Enjoy!
