New Guitar Day!
« on: May 07, 2024, 06:38:14 PM »
So the fiddle is as follows: alder body from MJT finished in raspberry metallic nitro with some distressing (picked it up off of Reverb), it has a swimming pool route but I'll stick with the single Air Zone for now (I love single pickup guitars), single 500k volume, Babicz Full Contact bridge, maple Warmoth standard -thin neck with their 10-16" compound radius, Grover locking tuners, 22 stainless 6150 frets and a red DiMarzio strap.

Admittedly, I'm a bit weird, so it's tuned a half step UP to F standard with a set of 8-40 strings.  It's simple, direct and fun.  I hope the day finds you all well.

I know nobody here cares, but my wife becomes visibly uncomfortable when I talk about my guitars so I have to let this out somewhere.  A quick update.  Since I first threw it together I noticed that the instrument was a little too bitey in the upper mids/high end.  So to remedy that I swapped the Babicz saddles for some black Tusq ones I had in my parts box and that has warmed the guitar's voice quite nicely.  It also allowed me to properly intonate the 6th string (the saddle is kissing the bridge, with no spring in between, but it works).  Now the guitar is settling a bit and has a wonderful fat-strat snap that's really satisfying to my ears for some reason.  I've pondered getting a different pickguard and wiring in a neck pickup of some sort, but I think for now I'll stick with how it sits.

It has the Tone Zone S in it?  Or, by “single”, did you mean one pickup?

Either way, I’d like to hear more about it!
