Some improvising using neck Mule
« on: May 24, 2006, 08:58:58 PM »
I was reading Muttleys thread about playing outside the usual box shape so I decided to record some minor chords and do some improvising in the natural minor scale (I think its that one) over the top like someone suggested, hopefully it doesnt sound too scale-like   I was quite pleased with how it sounds so I thought I might aswell post it as I like the lead tone. The chords were on a low gain JCM800 patch whilst leads were the same patch just with more gain and some delay/reverb added. At least I've broke out of the same old major pentatonic stuff :D

That sounds great, just the type of playing I've been doing for the last month or so (not quite as accomplished though), I've been messing around with chord progression in minor keys and chucking the variety of minor scale leads over the top, might just be me but they sound deeper than using major keys and scales, suppose the happyness of them keys don't do it for me, probably why most of the great songs are written in minors.

I think this is the best tone of all your clips tom!

Great stuff - i'd add there is no way your tone is weedy or cack - that is a good bold Les Paul sound and a half!

That was cool Tom, nice bits in the solo- going off in directions that  kept it interesting.
