Interesting - I've got a midboost kit in my guitar, but it's disconnected at the moment as I don't like the way it changes the sound of the pickups when off. Sounds neat when engaged though.

I'd be interested to hear comments on this from people who've actually used one..

I'm sure someone on here has them; I heard about them because someone was saying how much they liked them.

My problem would be that, for 11 years now (give or take) I've largely ignored the tone pots. I just don't think about them anymore. So if I installed something fancy, I'd probably still just forget about it.

They look intriguing - I don't suppose they have been / will be at any guitar shows over here though...
From the sounds of it i'd use it a lot! What i'd really like is a guitar modellor to go in that position (like drop-in variax electronics)... Warmoth should sell variax electronics by themselves, and allow you to build the rest of the guitar around them.

I can't afford new guitars anymore these days so i just buy mods for them, eg LSR Nuts, Locking Tuners, BKP's ;), Trem Setters, and i think this thing would be cool.. just trying to calm my GAS (Guitar Accusition Syndrome) by buying gadgets and it works lol :P

cheaper too :P and yea i'll probably buy one of these.

183% increase in relative midrange output.

The key is the word relative ;) which is actually a bit of cheeky advertising, basically its really saying that it's cutting the highs (and possibly the lows) and leaving the mids where they are. Hence the word relative.

It's just a method of switching between different capacitors like the old gibson vari-tone thing that you see on the likes of the Gibson ES-355 and the Lucielle.

It's not a bad thing, but it is how should I phrase it, a little misrepresented if you know what I mean.

I think Charlie Chandler do sells somthing similar to allow you certain classic tones on strats

The mod-boost on the Clapton Strats is pretty nice, allows you to really fatten up those single coils.  I used a similar mod that Dennis Cornell built back in my Strat days that was very nice indeed.  The variable pot meant that you could dial in just a little bit of boost to slightly thicken up the tone or go all out for full on humbucker'esque tones.  Well worth a look.
