Thought this would be the best forum to post this on...

What software\hardware are you all using to record your clips on?

And also can anyone recommend some good (free??) software for arranging tracks \ doing drums \ producing tracks?

And an inexpensive stand alone multi tracker to get basic ideas on (cant set my gear up to record direct to my PC unfortunately :( )

Being fairly resourceful, previously i've recorded using a £5 pc mic plugged into a mini disc, then ripped the audio from the mini disc to my PC on sound recorder (it actually captured some of the decent tone i had coming out my amp :P)

As to freebies:

Alot of people use Audacity

I use Mixcraft - from www.acoustica.com - Its really easy and has all the mod cons. Their Beatcraft is also good as a drum machine.

:guitar4: if your going to invest money in a recording unit why not use it to buy a device that helps you record directly on to your PC ? :D 8)

There's loads of sub £200 soundcards these days that'll allow you to record into your PC. Otherwise check out teh Zoom unit Steve's been recording clips with, very impressive...and it's a Zoom......the only other time I've heard a Zoom sound good is Satriani's Tone on Crying off the Extremist CD...
