Cold Sweat Bridge/Nailbomb vs Miracle Man
« on: June 17, 2006, 11:20:58 PM »
I've currently got a Cold Sweat in the neck of my strat and an Irish tour in the middle which im loving to bits, but im thinking of getting a different bridge pickup, the Miracle Man absolutly wails when it comes to metal and ripping it up but I find it hard to coax out sweet singing middy huge chunk.

I love the tightness and cut of the Miracle Man and it's deffinatly going to stay around but im thinking of getting something else, I want something thats going to have a smidgen less output, gotta clean up a bit more but it's mainly gotta have more mids.

Don't suggest a VHII btw ;) coz i've got one lying about thats not the kind of sound im after for this guitar.

I would suggest the Nailbomb or Holy Diver. I love my Nailbomb in the bridge, especially when I raised its height...now it's awesomely wicked...As for the Holy Diver, TO has it down in his "notes" as being more middy than the Nailbomb (which means a sight more middy than a Miracle Man), very articulate and with a nice bit of grind. He actually has a video of him playing his Holy Diver-loaded Tiger through his Splawn. Check it out. Sounds really good to me...and nicely middy.

Good point! Have you heard the clip of steve stevens playing the new Rebel Yell? It's really killer, and realllllly has a big dose of midrange CUT!

Man! I just ordered a Miracle Man/Cold Sweat Combo and I'm already getting a majoooorrrr itch for a calibrated set of Holy Divers...They just sound like they're getting some great reviews, and they sounded killer in TO's vid.

Don't get me wrong the MM/CS combo is absolutly stunning, and i'll be keeping the MM for certain applications, eg metal gigs i'll stick it in.. but I just wanna have something else I can use for the less agressive side in me.

Well, it all comes down to your ideas, "the sound in your head". So, having said that, I'd go with the Holy Diver. Sounds like what you are after. Maybe you'll go a different route and if you end up not liking the HD, you can always send it back for something else, right? Just make sure the thing looks cool when you order!
