Bought myself a little Pre-Birthday present.......
« on: July 16, 2006, 01:05:42 AM »
Hey guys.

To celebrate my birthday in a few weeks, and that I've finally found a job after so long of being skint, I've bought myself a Piledriver bridge pickup for my cheapie Gould Telecaster :)

Tim recommended this pickup and a set of 500k pots to totally transform the guitar and make it very versatile (and it'll also sound a hell of a lot better than it currently does amplified!)

I'll be sure to get it fitted asap and let you all know what I think of it :)

Now............... to buy a set of Apaches or have my Duncan Antiquities re-wound for the BrowCaster?

Cheers for the reply.

For what it'd cost to have the Antiquities re-wound, it's not much more to buy a new set of Apaches outright. So I might as well had do that :)

I'd agree with the last post, don't get the Antiquities rewound - you can sell them on ebay & then you've got some cash to put towards buying some BKPs.

As well as the Antiquities I also have another scratchplate with SD JB Jr, Quarter Pound and Lil59 in it. So hopefully selling all those will be quite easy and then I can buy some Mules for my Gibby LP too

Birthday greetings (in advance) and great you've got a job sorted. :)

Look forward to your comments on the Piledriver - I've thought about getting a cheap tele and fitting a Piledriver (or a cheap Les Paul DC copy and trying a P90) so will be very interested to see what you think of it. Are you going for a coil tap as you discussed in your other thread?

Hi Craig, I agree with everyone else, sell the SD's.  That's what I did with mine.  I'm sure you will like the Piledriver.  I'm just finally putting together my nailbomb guitar (Kahler, HSH, NB/IT/NB).  I have to see how Ben likes it once it is finished.

I think you already have a set of Black Dogs, so I won't suggest those instead of mules, but I am really liking the Riff Raff/Stormy Monday set I have.
So many pickups, so little time

Nah, I decided against the Tapepd output in the end. Tim says with a Piledriver and 2 500k pots I'll have a do it all Tele. So that's good enough for me :)

You're half right Phil ;)

I have a Black Dog and a Riff Raff in my Gordon Smith :)

After hearing Tims Mule equipped guitars live, playing his Mule laoded guitar at Music live (I can't remember what it was!) and the other Mules clips I've heard, I'll think I'll love em' :)

Cheers dood  :D

My bdays actually on next Tuesday, so hopefully I'll have my Piledriver fitted by then (it came today) :)

As regards the BrowCaster pickup swap I mentioned in my 1st post, I'm considering a set of Trilogy Suites for it and saving the Apaches for the Gordon Smith Strat I plan on ordering when I can afford it :)
