There is currently a TV talent show running in USA and my son's sister-in- law is in it.Her name is Ashley Spencer. If she does well out of it I am hoping my son can benefit from the fallout as he is a great great singer and songwriter. Here is a YouTube link.

It is now just 5 weeks until I fly to Columbus Ohio to see him-I haven't seen him since he left the UK 2 years ago so as you can imagine I am pretty keen to see him-and Meghan his missus of course.

Her face, her looks, the acting, are all great, I think if she keeps her enthusiasm and positive, open spirit she could really get somewhere as an actor.

Her singing is not up to the rest though. I would personally doubt that that can improve enough to start a singing career, maybe for musical it might be OK.

If I were her agent, I'd focus on acting/film rather than singing.

Say, are you planning to buy some gear in the US ?

Yeah her singing is definitely more singing dancing musical than pop career. It's cool to know someone on a tv show! My grandad went on the price is right and fifteen to one years and years ago, we have the tapes on beta max

She's really good, and I thought that she showed a lot of improvement week by week. Looks like she's got a real shot.

I thought it was excellent. Performing live under that kind of pressure is INTENSE.

I also love female tenor vox.

Yeah I was impressed-as I have said in the thread title, I am not a great fan of this type of thing however i admire her for doing it in the first place and I think that singing and dancing at the same time cannot be easy. Purely selfishly, I hope that there will be some sort of opportunity for Luke(my son) if she , for example, gets a deal of some sort-even if she doesn't win the show.
As for buying gear-well the answer is maybe.I do intend to mooch about to see if I can take advantage of the $/£ rate of exchange-maybe not a guitar perhaps but certainly a pedal or some such. Luke is getting me to bring the remainder of his CD collection over and also mentioned that he has seen a keyboard that he wants-which basically means that he wants money off me....for a change.

Thought she was very good - particularly like her enthusiasm.

Hope Luke gets something out of it - you must be looking forward to seeing him again after 2 years (even if you will be playing the friendly bank manager role  :D )
