I've never heard anything like this before, it's kina speed techno meets U.2 crossed with the music and something a bit heavier like a submarine.
This recording artlessly reveals my not-very-hidden obsession with "space rock", a genre typified by the hairy, drug-crazed freaks of Hawkwind in the early '70s. 8) Way uncool in these enlightened times! ;) I can see the U2 comparisons, perhaps appearing their largely because my guitar technique is even worse and sloppier than The Edge in his early days!
I particularly like the clean tones in this recording, maybe it could be a little less delayed though?
It
could be less delayed, though admittedly I was going for insane excess. ;) I might play with the settings as I make further revisions.
The clean (without the delay) is a clean I like. It uses the GarageBand amp sims, but I tweaked up the settings for it myself. I was aiming for a very Fender Twin type vibe with just a
little overdrive slipping through now and then. My inspiration was a Jerry Garcia style tone (I also harbour a tremendous Grateful Dead obsession), and I don't know how close I got there, but I do like the clean(-ish) tone I get from the Crawlers with it. I have to make a composition that uses that tone without such tastelessly over-the-top delay .....
for your first band that's brilliant, you should heard the state of my first band!
I think my first band wrote a few decent songs (of which this one is my favourite), but in terms of playing we were pretty bad! Mind you, I shouldn't talk, since I haven't really improved much in the last dozen years! ;)
I recommend becoming a solo instumentalist like me lol it's much harder to get your tunes liked by a wide audience.
My tunes will never be liked by a wide audience! :) And I think I'm not a good enough player to make plausible instrumental-only compositions. (Which is a shame, since I'm awful at writing lyrics or singing them!)
But, sadly, I do get more new music made recording at home than I ever do playing in bands. Slow though I am to write and record (the pressures of Real Life!), I still churn out more songs and bits of songs than I can get any band to work up. :P I look forward to the day when internet bandwidth is big enough to make it easy to collaborate on recording projects with people scattered around the planet! I think that day is getting closer ....
