Yet another pickup suggestion thread...
« on: September 24, 2006, 12:32:33 PM »
Hey guys,
I'm building a little frankenstein guitar based on a Squier satin trans strat SSH. I'm trying to get a Killswitch Engage kind of sound for the bridge, samples here : Killswitch Engage on MySpace
The guitar is SSH, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, mahagany body. I got some GFS pickups on the way, but I'm seriously thinking of getting a BKP for the bridge HB in the VERY near future (no money to get a full set sadly :( ). I'm leaning toward a custom Warpig or a Nailbomb, I'm not searching for an all out distortion but something clear enough for some Killswitch madness  any suggestions?

Here's the guitar :

Mine is crimson red but it's the same.

You want a Miracle Man i think, perhaps a Custom Warpig, but i don't think you know what a custom warpig sounds like yet because there has been no clips. Wait for Dakine's clip of the Custom Warpig which he will post in the next few days, then decide. But at the moment i think a Miracle Man would be perfect for your Killswitch Engage style.

I thought of the custom Warpig by extrapolation from the Warpigs clip. The same thing with less bass and a little more trebble and dynamics would be perfect.
Gotta check those Miracle Man clip, thx :)

Just checked the official MM clip and thought it laked mids (in a LP o_O ). The Nailbomb clip sound more like what I'm searching for, gotta listen to some more clips.

There are plenty of Miracle Man and Nailbomb clips, just search for them in the players section using the search button at the top of your screen. I recommend having a listen to a few of them to hear all the different styles people have played with them in their guitars. See which ones you like best.

I'm just saying Miracle Man because people before have asked for this tone and the Miracle Man has been suggested many times. Also i think Killswitch use EMG's and the Miracle Man is the closest to the EMG's they use (i think, not sure which ones they use)

Hope this helps you in your journey to find the right BKP's for you :P

Found a clip of the Custom Warpig here, but it's low tuned death metal  sound good but I'll have to wait for some softer clips :P

Yeah i heard that one before, but i think that is the only one, actually there might be another but it is on someones myspace thing i think.
I'm looking to buy a Custom Pig, i have been told the do thrash metal great, which is what i'm looking for.

I don't know what Caparison pickups are like, but i would have thought Killswitch would have changed them to EMG's, obviously not.
