Best pups for my style?
« on: October 02, 2006, 10:27:47 PM »
Im looking for a pickup or 2 pickups thats suit my style. I play a strat with 2 humbuckers and one single coil. I was origionally gunna get a dimarzio superdistortion in the bridge and a paf pro in the neck and some sort of middle single coils for jazz, blues, hendrix kinda stuff. I have a wide range of styles that i play but i would like a humbucker for the bridge position that is good 70s and 80s hard rock and metal. I will need it to go from Cream and Zeppelin to Megadeth and Pantera. Most often I will need it for late 70s early 80s kinda tone (maiden, priest, scorps, sabbath). Than I will need a pickup for the neck that is good for more modern shred kinda tones like vai, satriani, gilbert, yngwie. and for cleans I will sacrafise (if i have to) to get good distortion tone, so I would have to use both humbuckers at once to get great cleans or I theres a suffiecent single coil for my middle position. Thanks alot hopefully someone can help me out and recommened some good pups, all these pups are confusing because in the description it doesnt describe them very well. thanks alot. oh and another thing, see i was origionally gunna get some dimarzio but i heard about BKP and swineshead. Does anyone know if swinesheads are any good? can they compare to BKPs? thanks again :)

I'm assuming the guitar is H/S/H. I would definitely do a Cold Sweat/Trilogy/Cold Sweat combo!
Or, you could go CS/Irish Tour/CS.

I have a set of swineys, it's not really fair to talk about them on here though, since BK are paying for the bandwidth.

Basically, the general consensus is that BK are better, but of course are more expensive.

I think Nailbombs with an Irish Tour in the middle would be as good if not better too.
Real men turn their volume to 11!

Rebel Yells + Les Paul = the Ultimate Rock Pickup.
