Cold Sweat & Trilogy ?
« on: October 16, 2006, 02:13:19 PM »
I am going to order some BKP’s to replace the stock pups in my Yamaha Pacifica, this has become my main guitar due to the way it feels and plays.
I tend to play with a fair bit of distortion, mainly stuff like Satch, Zakk etc but I do cover a lot of ground style-wise.
I am thinking about going for a Cold Sweat bridge with a Trilogy middle and neck but. What do you guys reckon, would this be a fairly versatile combo cable of giving me the sounds I want ?

Cheers

It's a great-sounding combination!
I have a Cold Sweat/Trilogy Suite combo in one of my guitars and it rocks!!

Hi mate. thanks for the reply.

Can you still get that honky strat sound when the neck and middle are on together ?

Well, my pickups are wired a bit strange, in that I use a 3 position switch, and when the switch is in the middle position, you get the neck pickup and one coil of the Cold Sweat, wired in parallel. This gives me a very even, rich tone ... almost buttery.

I've never heard any Stat-like 'quack' tones from that setup, per se, but it's a tone I've never been interested in. Even my actual Fender Stratocaster is currently wired with a single humbucker!

I'd be more than happy to make a quick recording for you, as well.

Another combination to think about would be a Trilogy Suite neck, Mother's Milk middle and Nailbomb bridge. I have that combination in my Richwood Strat copy and it covers all the ground I need. So much versatility. I also have a coil tap on the Nailbomb. It splits very well. The NB is a bit lower output than the CS but it cuts through really well. It's a very versatile pickup.
