hey guys, I want to get into Muse. Give me the top 3 albums to start with. I am headed for Amazon.com and my credit card is burnin'! Thanks in advance

They only have 4 albums in Total :lol: So why not get the lot if funds allow?

There's not 1 full Muse album that I like, it's more half of 1, half of another kinda thing :roll:

Ok lets see, in chronological order:

"Showbiz" - their most straight forward album, sounded a bit like radiohead but with less jiggery pokery and louder guitars. Good solid album.

"Origin of Symmetry" - the big loud stadium rock album. Harder edge and more artsy than "Showbiz".

"Absolution" - orchestral sound emerging, more commercial, better production than the previous 2 albums, some good rock songs but generally more texture and variation.

"Black Holes and Revelations" - latest album. Follows on nicely from "absolution" but with many many more synths, space rock, and more of a groove to the songs, almost a dance feel to a few tracks. Plus marriachi brass :D

NOPE! they have 5 albums, but the third was god aweful

it goes Shobiz, Origins of Symmetry, HULLABALLOO, Absolution, Black Holes and Revalations

I would get shobiz, origins and black holes but i'm the same as Brow, some good some bad

He does love his technology though, that crazy matt bellamy with his crazy manson guitars, a bloody Chaos pad in a guitar! NUTTER!

my favourite is still origin, just because of new born, plug in baby and citizen erased

Ack I omitted Hullabaloo as it was a live and b-sides collection not a "true" album. Personally I rather like it, but the studio albums proper are endlessly better.

It's funny how you watch bands develop and gain popularity, I was listening to Muse before Showbiz had come out, and barely knew anyone else who had even heard of them. Now it seems the everyone and their mother listens to them. Seen Muse 4 times live now and was lucky enough to get back stage and chat with the lads back in May 2001. Happy times.

I fell in love with Showbiz and bought it a few years back and remains my fave in many ways due to its raw-ness

I would also recommend a listen to "Grace" by Jeff Buckley for something in the same vein when you are addicted to the Muse sound

Seconded. Grace is my all time favourite album. The first 18 months I owned it I played at least once a day every day. Now it just gets played 3 or 4 times a week (and thats after 7 years of listening to it). I can't think of a single album I still listen to that intensively. Jeff has a phenominal voice, really pure and strong and a fantastic range. A terribly underrated guitarist too in my opinion.
