Well I dragged the Strat out tonight to see what it sounded like through the VJ and I was nicely surprised.  I had:

JV Strat => 7-band EQ => Maxon OD-9 (Tubescreamer) => Valve Junior

Neck pickup, Strat tuned to Eb and set up with 12s.

SRV anyone???  Awesome  :D

Hi to all interested in the VJ.

This is just an update on valves and the VJ. I recently bought an Electro-Harmonix 12AX7 EH to try instead of the JJ 12 AX7. [/b]The JJ is a good sounding valve but I simply wanted the amp to crunch earlier. The info on the Electro Harmonix was that it is a quality valve that breaks up quicker with good tone. Well it did and it has! I had found that as good as the JJ was it took its time crunching with my Strat... about 5pm! The EH clearly crunches much earlier and has excellent tone so I'm much more pleased with this valve and can totally recommend it. Both Valves - JJ & EH are excellent but the EH is my preference. Experimenting with pre-amp valves is worthwhile as they all sound different. They will  shape and crunch your tone in different ways.

Cheers
