Crack on my acoustics neck joint =(
« on: October 27, 2006, 05:37:20 PM »
Noticed the other day my acoustic has some cracks around the neck joint :(

Hopefully someone who knows about this stuff can tell me if I can fix this myself or if it needs some special treatment. Pics of the crack -

Dunno how these cracks formed really, although it has fell on its neck a few times but not hard or from height..

On a more positive note, I finally got a grille cloth for my cab. Wasnt as grey as it looked on the pic on maplin but it still looks allright -

That crack looks like something that could be easily glued by a tech. Luthiers have some pretty strong glues, they're as hard as concrete, lol.

looks like the joint is giving way, so it should just need re glued (famous last words)

Usually they use an adhesive that softens with heat, as future repairs may require opening up the joint.

Could be caused by a combination of central heating (drying the guitar out) and the small drops.
