It's one of these days ...

... sure you know what I mean, there are those days where all your gear sounds cr@p and you just cannot get it right.

Well, I had one of the OTHER days today, installed Hovland MusiCaps in my Blackdogged Epi yesterday, and did some shielding to its guts. Today I plugged into Shiva-baby ... and ... woooooooohooooo, my hand at the master volume and GO! It just sounded awesome and I couldn't stop play fast and dirty and even more fast, louder and dirtier.

You cannot believe how awesome the combination Blackdogs/LesPaul => RMC3 Wah => Bogner Shiva => 2x12 (V30 + G12H30) screams

If only every day could be like today  :D

Any chance of a pre and post-Hovland comparison clip?

Well, haven't got any with identical settings. I would describe it basically as rounding off some of the unmusical edges and leaving the important ones. When rolled back, tone seems more useable and more powerful than with the disc capacitors.

But it's not just them, it's just that the combination of gear and settings and all was just perfect today:)

Yes, I think it's when I play for a while with the volume turned down but still semi loud.  Then when I turn it up and go for killer tone, my ears are ringing and my hearing is (mostly) temporarily impaired and nothing sounds right.   I noticed this at band practice in my friends basement, and everything sounds really good down there because it's the perfect sized room...

What is a whole lot worse however is some days, usually cold days, I cannot move my hand and thus obviously I cannot play.
Real men turn their volume to 11!

Rebel Yells + Les Paul = the Ultimate Rock Pickup.
