Nailbomb Questions
« on: December 23, 2006, 09:16:55 PM »
1) Is it a good choice for Thrash over a MM.

2) Is it a good choice to put it in an all Mahogany Explorer?

3) Would an overwound Nailbomb mean more power and aggression etc.

4) Has the issue of a ceramic nailbomb ever been raised?!

Cheers in advance  :D

Have you emailed Tim for a recommendation yet? I'm guessing you'll probably get a better answer from him as he knows the pickups better than anyone here and what they work best in seeing as he designed the things :P

It's Christmas, he's probably taking a holiday and relaxing with his family like normal people do :D

1) Yes.
2) I don't see why not.
3) Yeah, basically.... maybe you want a warpig?
4) Painkiller?

damn i can't believe i put another pickups question in the guitar forum

I don't want a Painkiller as it is britsh voiced which is far from what i want.
And i think i'll just go for the MM anyway.

My take on overwinding pickups is that they tend to lose tightness when gain is boosted. Nailbomb is a great choice for thrash methinks.
slow music for slow people

Depends on what you call thrash
If you mean old school like Metallica then go MM
The nailbomb was named after a Max Cavelera band - so the tone will be raw like that.

I would go with the MM as it is nice and tight at the bottom end
If you like bands that resort to using EMG 81s then you'll like it
(And then feel vastly superior to all those players  )
