who knows about a Gibson LP xr-1?

i've metioned this in one of my topics, but i have the opportunity to buy one of these for $700. It's in a tobacco sunburst finish, and is all original. Few minor scratches and blemishes, but overall in perfect condition. Anyone know any more about it? good deal?

Not a bad deal. It's pretty much a les paul studio, from the days before such a thing existed.

At that money and age though, you might want to think about holding out for a Gibson "The Paul". They shouldn't be much dearer, and you may prefer it/

well i already bought it. I was pretty set on getting a LP with tobacco burst finish, and this was pretty much the only one i could get with that finish in this price range. plus, i was thinking about getting something with single coils, and this guitar has a coil tap, so that kind of made up my mind for me.
