Jesus, why am I always the last to find these things out?

'Tis good. I now consider it essential and anyone that still isnt using one should start.

That is all.

I wish I knew how important it was to practice finger/picking exercises and scales etc.. to a click when I first started playing, my technique would be so much better.
MM set, warpig set, about to be fitted - custom 7 bridge 'pig, CS7 neck.

Yeah man, my playings improved in the DAYS since I stared using a click. The years beforehand with out one wouldve been so much more valuable with one.

Exercises and scales are great, but I think theres something to be said for improvising to a click too.

i prefer a drum machine... practicing with a metronome, that just goes tick tock, sounds lifeless and boring to me..

but in one for or another, it is useful

I use a PC met called "Weird Metronome". You can program simple drum patterns into it. But I still just use the ckick 90% of the time. it allows me to use the beats that I want out of all available, rahter than bias toward a pattern.

When I have a riff organised, I make a rudimentary beat for it.
