I just found the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe White Lightning Limited Edition on the internet.

Other thaan it's color it has some interesting upgrades. A normal volume knob. On previous versions, it had the kind of pot that had it's entire range from 1 through 4, so when you got to 4 and above, it didnt really do anything. And a Celestion Century Neodymium speaker.

Now, I've got serious GAS for one of these and I would like to trade in my old Hot Rod for one of these.

Has anyone seen one in Europe yet? Running on 220 Volts?

hmm couldnt you just mod your current one if those are the only upgrades though? I've been thinking about doing some mods to my HRDx just for fun, the first thing would be a proper volume control.

There's only a $100.- price difference between a normal one and the White Lightning. Replacing the volume pot seems to be a tricky operation and a new speaker isn't cheap.

I think the difference in the price between upgrading my normal HRDLX vs. trading it in for a new White Lightning would be minimal. Plus, I would have something special and limited. Only 800 are built.

But I'm not sure these amps are available on this side of the big pond.

New speakers cost about $100-120 for a high end Celestion. I think the Century Vintage speakers cost about $200 a pop.

If it makes you happy and you think the upgrades really are an upgrade then go for it. But remember, just because the Century Vintage is the most expensive Celestion or just about the most expensive Celestion does not mean it's better than say a V30 or Classic Leads if it can even touch them with a 10 foot pole in any frequency range... plus I would be afraid to play that thing as it may be a collectable in 50 years.
