The trade-off, many people found, was that high-output pickups don't have as much tone as low-powered ones, right?

You wouldn't say that if you owned a Holy Diver ;)
BKPs: HD, MM, NB, PK, CS, Ab (b&n); Am (b only); VHII, Tril (n only); IT, Slow, Sult (m&n)

I am pretty interested in the Holy Diver. Vivian Campbell is wicked. But it's alnico V, isn't it? It's not totally sick!

I can see why metal players would want ceramic weapons of mass distortion. I think a more relevant question (for me, but not for the rest of you), is "what's the point of a high-powered pickup for what I do?"

I don't play metal (well, not the proper kind with horns and wizards   ), so I'm guessing the answer for me might be "There isn't much point."
Bare Knuckles owned: Mules, VHII, Rebel Yells, BKP-91, Strat 63 set, Riff Raffs.
