Those Blue Vox amps

Hey folks. Ive heard that the Blue Valvetronix amps are being discotinued is this true? Good news for me I guess since im on the look out for a new amp. Anyone got or tried one of the AD60VT(X) or the AD120VT(X) Is it worth the extra money to get the X versions, the ones with the NeoDog speakers?
Will be getting used in bedroom most of the time apart from the odd jam with mates.

Oh, you think they'll come down in price if there getting discontinued?

For that price man, you could get a decent all-valve head... 350 quid for my marshall jtm-60 and it sounds spot on...

I have a smaller valvetronics, it's niceISH. the headphone output into my recording unit sounds really good. if you wanted that, you might as well get the floor-modeller, it's the same thing!

wish i'd bought the floor modeller actually...

I've been thinking about going all valve but since im only a bedroom player they seem a tad overkill. I was looking into the Laney LC30's. There about the same price range. Arent they REALLY loud? I mean the vox has that output switch that can make it from 1w to the full 60w output. Valve would be good if I could get a powerbreak for cheaps, they never are though!!

Its so confusing what to get. I was originaly gonna get a LC30, but then that would probably be too loud. Then the Vox as it seems good for bedroom stuff and has all the effects I would need built in. Would the Vox tonelab work well with a valve amp? I've heard that the floor moddelers sound rubbish through them

Gahhhh I hate shopping for new amps.    :wallbash:

I really wouldn't go for anything valve for bedroom use - you really won't get the benefit imo.

Try out some tranny amps - the standard is very high these days and they generally sound very much the same whether they're run at a whisper or a roar.

The Line6 stuff is great and inexpensive - a no brainer.  The Vox stuff is also supposed to be good but I've never tried them.

I dont really play live anymore but i am not willing to give up on my valves - i have two 5 watt valve amps that are perfect for bedroom use and sound much better (to me) than any equivelent SS amp.

One is a 1964 dallas scala combo and one is a little amp i built myself with a kit.  Both reach nice levels of drive before disturbing the neighbours (too much)

I would go for something like an epiphone valve junior, upgrade the speaker and spend the rest of my budget on pedals.

Stuff like the Line 6 dont sound bad at all - but they are still no match for a valve amp.

I quite much like the ad60vt myself. It's not much like a valve amp, but after a few days of trying out it's really a great amp! I'm not saying it's fully worth it's price, but it sure sounds nice! Nothing like other modelling amps IMO.

I'd also agree with the guys above here who say that small valve amps might be a better choice. I picked up a used Zvex Nano head for 200€ and it's the only amp I use since I got it.

I have the AD30VT and I love it.  I'll be 100% honest and say that my ears aren't as good as the guitarists on here, but to me it sounds really good.  The amp models are good for someone like myself who likes to fiddle and I now have a better idea of what I like to sound like.

The amp is certainly more capable than I am.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

^ I have a friend who has the AD30VT. I like it, although some of the amps on it sound a bit flat and could be better. Im hopeing the AD60VT sounds better since its one of the flagship Valvetronix. Just have to wait and see if I can grab a bargin on Evil-bay or if they start to come down in price on internet shops now. No local stores carry them so im kinda fuggerd on that front.
