Tele tone/Strat pup
« on: January 27, 2007, 09:49:49 AM »
Morning all! First post and I'm looking for some tips.

I have a Mothers Milk Strat pup in the neck position of my Tele. In the bridge I have a SD quarter pounder.

Love the tone of the BK. The SD is ok for what it is, but I'm looking to replace it with something a bit more vintage Tele sounding, but that also is a good match for the Mothers Milk.

To get a decent match-up, should I be looking for something with the same type of magnet? Or is it more to do with the output?

With my current combination, the middle position is not up to much, and I'm assuming this is because the quarter punder lacks the "twang" factor.

Anyway, bottom line is I don't want to change the Mothers Milk, but I do want a more Tele sounding Tele!!

Sorry for the slightly confused post, any tips much appreciated if you have any idea what I'm talking about!!!

Muzzzz

Hi & welcome.  You don't say if it is the standard tele size bridge pickup.  If it is, I have a Brown Sugar bridge with a Slowhand neck and that gives a nice Led Zep sound.  I also have the Piledriver with a mini-mule neck, which is a great combination with a bit more bottom end.  Both the Brown Sugar and the Piledriver would complement your Mothers Milk, depending on the style of music you are playing.  If you are using a strat bridge pickup, it will be hard to get a Tele sound, though the Mothers Milk and the Slowhand will sound good, especialy in the middle setting.
So many pickups, so little time
