By the way, i have seen 2 MAJOR whammy abusers, Children of Bodom (alex laiho) and Dragonforce, they didn't break a string in their whole set.

Jeez, luck has summit to do with it, no-one says a string WILL break.

Why do you continuously argue for the sake of it to make a point which is not conclusive?

I havn't even heard of anyone breaking a string on stage, it all depends on the quality of the instrument i think.

Many years ago I read a review of a Larry Carlton gig where he broke a string mid-song, so he took out his string clippers, cut the other two treble strings and finished the song on the bass strings.

So it can happen to anyone.

Good story, but I suppose his guitar tech must have been cursing.

(edit: which is basically the same as Nick's Silver Machine story, but it's too late to delete mine now...)
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

Lol, Philly good memory. Indeed, it CAN happen to anyone.

And FLoyds are not especially known to like downtuned guitars a whole lot either.

Joe,

I swore off posting because of this very situation.

I for one am tired of listening to you asking inane questions, and then later on passing off the information you gain as your own experiance.

You have done this repetidly, and it's getting to the stage where people cannot ignore you or be bother offering advice.

You are arrogant and very rude for the most part, and are ignorant of this fact.

Please for the greater good think before posting.

Most of us have phrased things badly on occasion, but this really is too much.

Ok, i have no idea where this hate is coming from. WHat exactly have i done wrong in this thread, all i said was that i was going to buy a floyded version of the Dean he just bought.

Then Dakine launches an assault on floyd roses. I have no idea where you got all this from. I think you are rather cheeky for posting that because you don't know me and don't know what i do with my life, you have no idea if i have tried things or not. And what's the point in asking for advice if you can't learn from it and pass it on to others.
And where did i ask a question in this thread, more to the point what does this debate between me and Dakine have to do with you?!

An Assault?

Ummm, can you read english ???????????

I said that re-stringing can be a time consuming exercise and that  am not a Floyd lover but HAVE owned em!

Joe, you started ALOT of cr@p last nite and trust me, from the pm's I got, made a HUGE ass of yourself.

If ya wanna upset ALL the regulars on here, all the people who have experience (real experience) then carry on.

Sheesh, NEVER EVER say I started an ATTACK when I voiced an opinion (with YEARS of gigging experience) on somthing when you have NONE by your own admission Little BOY!

You know what i can't be bothered anymore with defending my cause because you simply won't listen. Big deal you have experience, so that somehow makes you superior to younger people.
From now on i won't even waste my time posting anything unless it is to do with a pickup.

probably a safe bet.
And what does experience count for? KNOWLEDGE.
It HAS to be earnt, like an apprentiship.
Spouting stuff ya hear from elsewhere is worthless.
Superior was NEVER mentioned but if you don't think experience counts for anything, good luck with LIFE! There are countless amazing young musicians, but most got there by asking and listening and NOT arguing.

And if ya feel like you are being singled out, DO'NT.

YOU accused ME of ATTACKING Floyd equipted guitars which is BLATANTLY obvious I did nothing of the sort.

I know NOT why I even bother rising to your posts, I guess somehow I would like to think you would LEARN somthing (as I said last nite) but it seem's your 'I know EVERYTHING' attitude will always prevail.

Good Luck and Good Nite.

For what it is worth, I do not have a Floyd equipped guitar however I have broken strings on many occasions at gigs and I do take a spare with me for that reason.Years ago, before I had a spare, the band I was in at the time had a "string breakage song" that they could do without me and the plan would be for me to get a new string on and tuned in time for the solo and I managed to get it done each time-but as I say, it wasn't a Floyd guitar, just my standard US hardtail Strat. Changing a string in 5 minutes is all very well but on stage, that is a lifetime-which is why I got myself a spare cos it relieved the presure and gave me a great excuse to persuade the missus that I "needed" another guitar.getting a new guitar is always a  good thing which brings me to the thread-great stuff old chap!

No offence to the guy, but Steve Vai's floyd abuse has put me COMPLETELY off Floyd Roses. I'm happy with the vintage trem just as long as it stays in tune ok.

CrazyJoe and Dakine, please, there is no room for your bickering here  :!:

Absolutley correct.
But do NOT expect me to sit idol after someone accuses me of launching an 'Attack' when they should first read the post and second 'by their own admission' have NO knowledge of the subject involved.

I admit, this should and was a great/friendly forum (but why try and impart some advice/knowledge/experience) when it seem's some KNOW IT ALL anyway  :!:
