Mex Strat pup upgrade??
« on: February 06, 2007, 07:18:56 PM »
Hi

I tried a Fender Classic 50's Mex Strat today in local store, it played really well, and i'm quite taken by it. What i want to know is if i get it and put some Irish Tours in it,,will they handle moderate distortion well??

It's maple neck btw

Cheers

great guitars those. Apparently all the parts for them are manufactured in the US factory, and then driven down to mexico for assembly. I'm not sure how true this is as i can't remember the source, but generally the classic series instruments are quality axes in my experience. I don't know whether you want a 50's sound for the axe with its 50's appearance and feel but if you do i'd reccommend apaches rather than irish tours, if not however, then disregard...

Yes, i was quite surprised, the neck is real nice on it, for the money, i'm really impressed,,but, i play kinda punky stuff, so want it to handle distortion, that's why i'm thinking of the 'Tours

good choice - yu could get em in black aswell for a nice hotrodded look 8)
even better- look under the pickguard for humbucker space and get it a bridge bucker, with a new pickguard
