Replacement trem blocks.
« on: January 17, 2007, 03:57:45 PM »
There seems to be quite a trend for replacement bridge blocks, especially on strat style trems, the most common being steel blocks. I thought steel was heavy but I've seen them advertised as being lighter (than brass or cheapo alloy presumably?) and better for tone.

What are your opinions?
Also what about any other options.. if light is good then how about titanium or plain old aluminium? And is anyone making these for floyd rose style bridges?

Steel blocks do make a difference to tone and sustain (although not as big as the adverts say) over the zinc blocks used in cheaper guitar trems.

Just make sure that your guitar doesn't already have a steel block  - a magnet helps.

Modern Wilkinson trems are steel block already - so its worth getting a magnet to the block to see if you need to spend money.
