my schecter is a very dark and bassy guitar, and the current pickup set seems to worsen it (air norton neck, 16k overwound has sound viper bridge, orginally 13k)

i play hardcore/post-hardcore/metal and some lighter indie rock. i play through a mesa f-30 head, soon to be a framus dragon.

i prefer a warm, thick yet articulate and detailed sound. bass has to be tight enough for chugs and start-stop riffs. squeals should fly off the fretboard. i do not want to sacrifice my cleans and mid-gain tones too much, but i have singlecoil axe for those purposes tho.

im guessing coldsweat neck, nailbomb bridge. im thinking the miracle man's voicing would be too compressed and the warpigs... too over the top.

i have no idea about the other lower output models tho. any help guys?

forgot to mention, this guitar is reserved for drop tunings (drop C, D standard)

i think the combo yu're thinking of is pretty much bang on!
What bands sounds are we talking about here?

i love thursday's tone, especially on full collapse.

should i go ceramic? im afraid the dark nature of my guitar might need the ceramic tightness, my existing pickup is ceramic.

oo - i was just listening to thursday this morning. i guarentee you that NO ceramic pickups were used on Full Collapse - i can nail that sound with my nailbomb! I think you'll get close with your Mesa, but the Framus will sound almost exactly like Full Collapse. the nailbomb is also a very uppermid-focussed pickup, so, being very bright it'll help to balance out with the dark nature of your guitar.

Reading the list of requirements, I'd say Nailbomb all the way - at least for the bridge position - I don't have any experience with a Nailbomb neck.

However, I've had a NB in the bridge of my Les Paul - also quite a dark sounding guitar - for over a year, and it will do all you want it to I reckon. Cleans up very nicely, and coil-taps well too if that's your thing, but has a fantastic dirty rock sound with plenty of definition, and it won't let your drop tunings sound mushy either.

Also, alllows pinch harmonics aplenty. :twisted:

i agree with what everyone has said

Nailbomb bridge all the way! it is very versatile, so you can use it for everything really! indie cleans, Hardcore distortion, it should be fine.
i don't know about the CS neck, but i have heard it goes very well with the NB bridge.
