Well, I'd like to say it's nice to be back on the forums! I'm an owner of a DSL 100 and I'm in the market for a cab upgrade (1960A, surprise, surprise). I've been looking around and the prices Avatar offers really can't be beat. So, I'm looking for a real nice sounding, cheap cab that will help make the most of the tone the DSL has to offer. Loudness isn't an issue, of course, tone is. I'm after a 2x12  (w/ speakers) that will let the distortion sing and give deep, warm, round cleans. Dave at Avatar told me to go for Classic Lead 80s, but I wanted to test the waters at BKP and see what you guys think.

PS I'm in the U.S., so a U.S. dealer is great, a U.K. dealer with low shipping costs is ok.

if you want a 2x12 and it needs to cope with 100+ Watts, the options are quite limited.

I'd tend to agree with Dave at Avatar, Classic Lead 80s will be perfect with that setup for a PHAT tone with great chunk in the bass end.

I have an Avatar with Eminence Tonespotters.  They give a very versatile sound.  For a bit more bass I would use Wizards.  However, if you can spend a bit more and wait a bit longer, I would get an Ear Candy Buzz Bomb.  They are great cabs and Tim will make what you want.

With all this talk about Eminence speakers, I'm beginning to reconsider my options. My DSL 100 is a beast, and sometimes controlling the beast can be a little difficult. Mainly, my biggest concern is a clean, articulate sound both with distortion and without and I need a speaker cabinet that can do this better than my 1960a. Dave at Avatar said Celestion Classic Lead 80s but would any Eminence speaker do the job better?
