« on: March 26, 2007, 11:22:13 PM »
Right i bought this amp ages ago, well afew years and its one of the best sounding amps i've ever heard but theres no information....

the cleans are awesome and the distortion is great but put a pedal through and its stunning....

it says fender skx 65r on it.... and in the back it has what i think is aspring reverb box which says: ACCUTRONICS, CARY. IL. MADE IN USA

I'm not sure, doesn't Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead) have one of those Fenders with red knobs on it?

Dont hold me to that, it just rings a bell.
The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away...

Looking at the Fender Amp Book by John Morrish, I think it was built in the early 90s by Fender Japan (I guess the "Made in USA" only refers to the Accutronics reverb unit).

There's a bit of info here which suggests some of these amps were built in Taiwan.

As Philly says - looks like a variant of the early 90s Fender 65 series with the red knobs - and indicators seem to point to the far east for production

Transistor powered but pretty good sounding

Was phased out when the Roc Pro series came in - possibly replaced by the Roc Pro 70 (later called the Roc Pro 700)

And as with everything if it sounds good - enjoy it and value it and dont ditch it because someone else says its not whatever the cool amp of the moment is

Any chance you can edit the title of this thread so that its not so enigmatic as to what it's going to be about?
The whole point of titles on threads is to help folks know what to expect or to get their attention.

Maybe "Anyone know anything about Fender SKX 65R amps?" would be better
