Just wondering: a mate of mine has an 8 conductor bucker (a kent armstrong I believe), and its pretty cool:

so @ the guys at BKP (Tim and I dont know if anyone else does winding there)

Would you consider doing an 8 conductor based on the warpig/nailbomb/miracle man? Asside from the obvious higher gain and wiring options, what would be the pros/cons of this hypothetical pickup? (inc. price!)

This isnt an order, by the way (though if the answers a definate yes, I'll be tempted!).

I'm guessing that the pickup your friend has is constructed using 2 s/c sized rail humbuckers in a standard sized humbucker casing, with each of the pickups being a 4 conductor unit.  If this is case, then from what I can see, there is nothing currently in thre BKP range that would fit in this form.

I've got a DiMarzio Multibucker with a similar design, but just running as a 4 conductoer pickup.  It houses a Fast Track 1 and a Chopper and works great as a versatile neck pickup.

I'm not sure, Bowks, could it be two thin stacked buckers? Its a kent armstring muthabucker, anyway, if you'd like to find out.

I didnt expect anything could be thrown straight into the role, I was jsut wondering what the downsides of such a pickup would be, if its a feasable format to get some good tones out of or if its just a muscle-bound flamethrower (as the muthabucker is), and if BKP would entertain the idea of making one at some point (provided one can be made that would meet the tone standard of the rest of the range).

Ahhhhhh, if it's a Motherbucker then it's what I thought, like 2 Hot Rails stuck side by side.

The fact that the pickup is 8 conductor doesn't give the pickup any more output than a 4 or 2 conductor pickup.  If you want a mega output pickup, ask BKP to overwind a Miracle Man or Warpig for you.  If you're after versatility, get a 4 conductor pickup and a decent 24 pole 5 way megaswitch pickup selector along with a groovy wiring diagram.  That way, you can coil split, get both coils in series, both in parallel and so on.

HTH.

No extra output? Didnt realise that. OK, fair enough, I already got a warpig that I'm happy as a pig (a warpig, even) in shite with. Still cutious though. Would there be any point other tan the extra wwiring options?
