A few pickup questions...
« on: April 12, 2007, 02:42:26 PM »
Well, I'm considering buying a new bridge pickup for my Ibanez S470 and have narrowed it down to either the warpig or the nailbomb

which will probably be my best bet? I play a lot of Muse/QOTSA/Wolfmother/RATM type stuff but also don't want to sacrifice good cleans

also, will both of these pickups (I'm guessing yes) fit into my guitar (Ibanez S470)?

would I need to buy some sort of pickup cover aswell?

I'm new to pickups so bear with me...

I would go with the Nailbomb for what you want.  I have one in an Ibanez and it is very versatile.  The warpig is a heavier sound, but can do great cleans in parallel mode.

You can either get open or with a cover, but you don't need a cover on open coil pickups.  The are made to be used without one.
So many pickups, so little time

Is the warpig not really like EMG's then? I've heard with them you can't really get good cleans ever

which out of the warpig and nailbomb will probably give me better cleans?

The pig isnt the weapon for those fights. Its overkill.

Nailbomb. Yes, that will give you better cleans (the pigs are easily the best of a pickup of its power, but not as good).
