ok, so i'm gettin my MQ delivered tomorrow, but i didn't get the coil tap on this one (didn't want it, not a mistake in the order) so instead of wiring the push-pull switch to have a coil tap, can i wire it up so that when i pull the switch, it stops any sound coming through, like a killswitch????

check out Buckethead and his white Paul-has the killswitch installed where tone pot usually resides(going from memory..)

do a search on buckethead/killswitch...check out some of the stuff on youtube as well to see if that is what you are going for,,,lots of info seems to be out there...it gives him a quicker kill than the traditional pup switch on a paul...of course,that is all i need...think r rhoads on tribute...bahhhh.bahh...bahh..bah.....................arrrrrrroooooooOOOOO!

The kinda switch that Buckethead uses is a momentary 'switch'- it doesn't latch, so it'll pop out when his finger isn't on it. You wouldn't be able to get the same effect using a push/pull pot switch, but i don't think this fella wants that anyway,

I think (not 100% though), that a push/pull switch on a pot is a DPDT switch, so take the hot wire from the output jack, and solder it to one of the corner connections on the switch (marked with a *), then take the middle connection(the #) and connect that to the output jack where the old wire was:

- -
- - unconnected push/pull
- -

* -
# - connected up
- -

Exactly. Buck's killswitch is momentary and is used for that cut-on-off tremolo effect. Thats not the same as just deadening the guitar completely when the push pull is in the out position. In theory they should be wired exactly the same though as long as its the last thing in the chain before it hits the switch jack.
