Am going to be in Edinburgh over the weekend, hopefully I will get a few hours on Saturday afternoon to have a wander round some guitar shops. Which would be the best places to try (the only one I know of is guitar guitar).

I will be staying in Morrison Street.

I am specifically interested in trying out some amps (Marshall JVM, Mesa Mark IV, JSX & VH100)

yep, heard reports some of them are having noise issues so wanted to try a few out and see what the general quality is like.

did you sell the Genz ?

Really? I haven't heard about JVM with noise issues. But then I've never played one. If you're bothered with background noise then I doubt you'll like the VH100R it's quite hissy at high gain but I heard changing preamp tubes can sort this out. I've been too lazy to sort this out coz it's not an issue once you start playing. Genz Benz is super quiet though even on the highest gain settings.

No I haven't finished the sale yet. Just awaiting the guy's final decision. I'll know by weekend hopefully. Still interested?

guitar guitar is the best one i've been to (though i've doubtless missed a few as I'm not from edinburgh).

there's a sound control in the grassmarket, worth a look I guess.

I think those are the two main ones. Hopefully some guys from edinburgh can chip in.
