Well it arrived yesterday after costing me £30 in duty & such (not that bad I suppose!) so it ended up costing me £130 including delivery. It's finished lovely & has that new guitar smell (and I swear nitro smell!). All hints accepted on which way to go now, as I'm skint do I buy the littleparts (nob's straplocks etc) or save up for the neck?

Well you've gotta buy 'em all sooner or later, so I don't suppose it matters   .

The only real consideration is have you decided which type of tuners will the headstock be routed for, vintage or modern?

Get little parts, finish the body, then all you'll have to do is slot a neck in place and voila  8)

I'd do it the opposite way round - Once you get the neck in, you'll then have a clearer idea of what type/colour hardware you want in it...

Might have well just have bought one if you are gonna get one made up all nice and pretty.  I mean it will undoubtedly cost less, but you can't really ever say you made it or verily, built it, it will just be an assembly piece.  I feel like i can be all snobby because i am building my guitar from scratch  :P
BKPz: Nailbomb+VHII, more to come...

Maybe you can be snobby when you have made your guitar from scratch, but definately not before its playable.. hopefully by that point you wont want to be snobby about it

As somebody who builds guitars i see nothing wrong with poeple buying parts for their projects - its a much quicker and more successful route into a great hobby and they get a unique guitar out of it that will hopefully suit them better than anything they could have brought 'off the shelf' - some of thosepoeple will even go on to build a guitar and likely do better for the experience they gained putting a guitar together!!!
