Reverb on amps without one, series FXloops etc
« on: June 26, 2007, 03:21:49 PM »
As some of the new amps that I am looking at come without reverb, I was wondering what people generally do to achieve reverb with these amps. Also these amps only have a series FX loop.

I must admit that I am not a huge fane of spring reverbs (especially the reaaly long wobbly sounding ones that are fitted to a lot of amps!) and so currently use my Digitech 2120 using the parallel FX loop option of my Speed Twin and set the 2120 to fully wet so the FX sound is just added. I use the parallel mode as the 2120 has no analogue bypass so digitises all of the signal if run in series mode, and it seems a waste to digitise the signal in the middle of an all valve amp. Whilst it has 24 bit converters
there is still an audible difference after running through the 2120 (poss due to the analogue input/output stages though).

I have an old Quadraverb that has analogue bypass, but I remember from past use that there is still an audible change in the sound running the signal through the Quadraverb.

I presume that generally these amps are intended for use where they will be miced up through a PA and so reverb etc would be added afterwards, but there must be others like me, so anybody any cunning solutions?

Certainly an idea, but it i svery pricey - £239.

I suppose really what I need is something that plugs in to a series FX loo, and generates a parallel FX loop. I'm sure I saw some pedals a bit like this but I can't remember where now.
