Black Dog do ACDC solo
« on: August 02, 2007, 07:24:39 PM »
I was just playing around with some settings on my new piece of gear, trying out different sounds and I happen to stumble across a familiar tone. I think the tone is pretty close to "You Shook Me All Night Long," but not spot on...
Recorded with an Epi LP w/ BDs > Pod XTL > Fender DeVille > PC...
Epi LP w/ Black Dogs

Nice, very nice!  For Black Dogs and a Fender that's surprisingly good!

Excellent!
I was learning that song a while back and when I played the solo I couldn't replicate the phrasing of the original, I guess it just sounded like me instead of Angus, but you nailed it!
The tone is great, how did you use the PodXT, stomp box only or with an amp sim?
Black Dogs always sound great in LP types, I wonder what they're like in a superstrat?

The phrasing was a little hard for me and took me a little while to get down. As for the POD, I used an amp sim and tweaked the hell out of my Fender's EQ. However, I just listened to the clip again and it sounds like there's just a bit too much gain. Anyway, glad you like it!
